Olivia, and the apprentice were very professional and knowledgeable about the job. She went above and beyond what she needed to do. She also was able to help out with a small problem with the washing machine. She recommended a local company to look at what needed to be repaired on the washing machine leak. I will definitely keep BSC on speed deal for future plumbing needs and maybe some HVAC needs in the near future.

As of father of two boys, one ten and the other just 9 months when my 23 year old heat system finally crashed on me; I needed a company to come in right away and put in a new heating system before the winter showed up. I worked with a Carlos Teixeira, Ben Strolsky and James Gabriel and their crew of plumbers and electricians. Not only were they excellent to work with but also polite and able to answer all my questions. The team wasn't just there to install a boiler and a water heater; they were there to put me and my family at ease. I felt comfortable talking to them and as the job ended, I noticed that they do more than just plumbing so I will certainly use their services again; and recommend them to anybody who asked me for a dependable company that can help with all your homeowner needs.

Our central AC needed replacement. I contacted Boston Standard and they sent out a technician (Leo) who never pressured or tried to sell us anything. He was sharp and definitely knew his stuff. We purchased a unit and the process was easy, non-pressured and their prices were great. Everything was explained with rebates ect.

Two technicians, Brian and Thomas arrived on time, early even, and were both very friendly and explained the process to us. The job took two days and honestly I couldn’t be happier, they were awesome . Both Brian and Thomas are a credit to their company. Both were extremely knowledgeable and took pride in their work, from a spotless work area to the actual AC unit. I have enclosed photos, their work shows pride, everything is straight, level and honestly perfect.

The second day, their two electricians arrived, Jeff and Alex. Both Jeff and Alex were awesome, they went above and beyond to have everything perfect and completed by the end of the day. They went over everything and gave easy and clear instructions on how to use the system properly.

I am beyond satisfied, Boston Standard was the easiest and probably the best company I’ve used. I will continue to use them for our heating/cooling , plumbing needs. From the first communication, texts stating arrivals, their work, the equipment and their stellar technicians. I cannot possibly recommend Boston Standard enough.

Had a thermostat installed, Carlos and Vanderlei were awesome!! Both were early, extremely professional and polite, they answered any questions and made sure you understood. So far every employee that has come from Boston Standard has been an excellent experience. They are all a credit to their company and I can see why the company is successful.

We recently completed an insulation project through Mass Save and Homeworks Energy, and the experience was outstanding. They insulated our entire attic and replaced the attic stairs, all for a very reasonable price.

The impact was immediate—the coldest room in our house is already 9 degrees warmer! The crew was professional, efficient, and took the time to answer all of our questions. We couldn’t be happier with the results and highly recommend them to anyone looking to improve their home’s comfort and efficiency.

Such a terrible set of experiences with HWE. I went through MassSave to get their services: insulation & other heat-saving measures, including door jambs, + expanding foam in foundation. In total they required THREE separate trips, which I’ll expand on:

1) Initial visit — 2‑br, 1‑bath job. I was onsite for the first half of the full day’s work. They were great in the kitchen and living room: they put up plastic sheeting & handled dust/debris carefully. I left them to finish assuming all was fine. Unfortunately, both bedrooms and the garage were NOT plastic-wrapped as they had been when I was present; they were an absolute mess when I returned (images). I had moved everything to the center of each room to make it easier to cordon off, but everything — most frustratingly my bedding — was covered with dust, drywall particles, & insulation. I don't understand why they don't use a shop-vac while drilling to cut back on the mess. I would have assumed HEPA everything but instead it's just drill & blow insulation. They used 24-hour joint compound on the cutouts; that compound would be fine alone but they applied two coats only a few hours apart which creates too much moisture and causes cracking, something anyone who has used joint compound before would know. That requires much more post-processing sanding & reapplication to get a smooth wall (another image). Many of their styrofoam 3″ inserts used to plug holes protruded well beyond flush with the wall and required complete removal and reapplication; this made repairs take about three times longer than necessary. I spent many weekday evenings & weekends cleaning & repairing and to this day find a layer of drywall dust + insulation.

-Adobe Energy, an independent verification company, came onsite about two months later. Rep was great, found several cold spots in the walls and advised another visit to remediate them, plus noted poor door-jamb installation & a missed foundational joist spot.

2) Re-scheduling was reasonably. Second HWE crew remediated some of the shoddy work from the first trip (door jambs & joist patches). For some reason they didn’t reference the Adobe Energy photos & drilled more holes in the patched walls than were documented. They attempted to use their blow-in insulation machine but said it was non-functional, they would need to return a THIRD time. I was upset but I tried not to take it out on the reps. They promised an escalated call from a manager that day to reschedule; I did not receive it. I waited until mid-afternoon the next day then called. The scheduler was empathetic; said the next available slot was three weeks out which I told her was unacceptable given the circumstances and state of the walls. Said she’d follow up after working on scheduling and, after about an hour, called back to say she could send reps the next day.

3) The third visit finished the blow-in insulation and patchwork. Unfortunately they were NOT given the pictures from Adobe's assessment, I made it clear we wouldn't progress until we could reference the pictures. The rep made some emails/calls and got the pictures, we reviewed and executed. I lost another weekend to joint compound, sanding, priming, and painting.

HomeWorks Energy demonstrated widespread incompetence: broken equipment, poor onsite training, and low-quality materials, they even had a duct‑taped blade they were using  (image). Whatever they’re billing MassSave clearly isn’t going back into operations or equipment. I lost multiple weekends cleaning up their mess, and it’s a shame to see a good MA program affected like this. I would warn people to stay away from HomeWorks Energy at all costs and look to other contractors.

Update: The owner responded with a generic message directing me to customer care — the same offer made previously, which went nowhere. At this stage, the work is done and can't be undone; the only meaningful resolution left would be some acknowledgment of the time I lost to cleanup and repairs that shouldn't have fallen on me in the first place. Being redirected again doesn't give that back.

The attic floor needed to be pulled up and raised to bring the insulation up to code. A very big job in my opinion. They left the place clean and managed to get the whole thing done in 3 long days. We had an excellent experience with Endless Energy, thanks to technicians Rob and Brendan. They came to our home to do both duct cleaning and duct sealing, and we were honestly shocked by the amount of buildup they showed us in the ducts from the previous owners. We are so grateful to have all of that removed.

They later returned to complete the duct sealing, and the results were nothing short of amazing. Our system’s capacity improved from 65% to 95%—an astronomical improvement that we could never have imagined.

Update to my original review:

I had an initial repair performed on January 17, and at the time the furnace appeared to be functioning properly.

The furnace began operating inconsistently again in early February. I called the company on February 12 to schedule a follow-up appointment.

On the evening of February 15 — the night before the scheduled visit — the furnace was still running, although it was taking a long time to start producing heat.

A different technician arrived around 10:00 AM on February 16. After approximately two hours of work, around 12:00 PM, he informed me that the furnace had been tampered with and claimed that the manual gas valve had been shut off. He refused to continue service and implied that someone else had worked on the system without their knowledge.

He then left without completing the repair and did not collect any payment for the visit.

The accusation is concerning and does not align with the timeline. The furnace was producing heat the night before, and we did not have anyone else work on the unit.

I requested time-stamped photo documentation showing when the technician began work and when the alleged issue was discovered. The company refused to provide this documentation, stating it was “for internal purposes only.”

I am disappointed by this experience.
